58. The Web Planet, Part I: The Web Planet
This episode felt exceptionally slow-paced at various points. Then I realized there was virtually no incidental music and wondered if the episode seemed slow for that reason. Maybe the director felt a lack of music would highlight the strange, empty nature of the planet they were on, or maybe the show's budget was all spent on set and costume design leaving none to hire a composer, but it was odd having no incidental music.
Random observations:
- A “respiratory compensator” is a convenient device to save money on full space suits. Also, I wonder if Barbara leaving the TARDIS without a respiratory compensator and apparently suffering no ill effects will be explained away by her hypnosis or if it was a continuity error.
- Since when was aspirin considered a sedative? Was aspirin laced with morphine in the 1960s?
- The TARDIS console can spin!
