33. The Sensorites, Part III: Hidden Danger

Like many scenes in this story, the “Let’s set up the disintegrator!” scene took way too long. At first, I assumed the “Ian drinks crappy water” discussion was more unnecessary exposition. However, as soon as Ian coughed, I thought "The cause of the disease couldn’t be that obvious, could it?" Then Ian really started coughing, and I realized it definitely will be. Maybe discussion of the pump handle will be imminent.

I also wonder if the references to the Sensorites’ caste system is some sort of commentary on former British colonies. Tardis Wiki says writer Peter R. Newman “served as a pilot in Burma during [World War II], which almost certainly informed his writing on the … war film, Yesterday's Enemy.” So I’ll say … probably…?
