The Doctor is remarkably confident in his ability to defend Ian from the murder charge. Did he go to law school in Millennius at some point? His trial antics certainly don’t suggest so. I would not feel confident that convincing Sabetha to perjure herself was a sound strategy. If a society has barbaric laws that condemn people to death based on flimsy evidence, I’d be worried their laws against perjury aren’t much better. Fortunately, the judge was very accommodating of perjury. I’m also unclear of the benefit of psychometric examination, but this society’s practices are already befuddling.

Off-screen domestic violence with Aydan hitting his wife was another startling plot point for a children’s show. But after the implied sexual assault in part IV, I guess I shouldn’t be shocked.
