18. Marco Polo, Part V: Rider From Shang-Tu

So far, this episode has the most unfortunate casting decisions. Every stereotype seems to have been focused into the portrayals of Wang-Lo and Kuiju, respectively the foppish waystation host and evil eyepatch guy. Just to confirm things, I looked up the actors who played the roles. They are respectively Hungarian and Norwegian. Gábor Baraker, the actor who played Wang-Lo, was a Holocaust survivor and had a compelling life story. And Tutte Lemkow, who played Kuiju, was in Raiders of the Lost Ark! But these interesting facts were not enough to make these performances acceptable by today’s standards.

And yet another cliffhanger that ends with Susan screaming. Sigh…
