An Unearthly Child, Part III: The Forest of Fear (Episode 3)

They are only three episodes into this series, but two out of three episodes have already used the Mad Libs format for episode titles that will serve them well for decades: The [Place/Object] of [Bad Thing]. The Isthmus of Sadness. The Closet of Ennui. The Armoire of Weltschmerz.

This episode featured more harp/bassoon music, only to be later joined by a xylophone. The music team clearly didn’t have access to the most desirable instruments.

The production team seems to be still figuring out who the Doctor is. At one point, he’s totally pessimistic, adopting a “what’s the use?” attitude while they’re tied up. At another point, he appears homicidal. He holds a rock over the wounded Za – I think because he’s about to kill him? He also said “I’m not a doctor of medicine!” which does beg the question of what is his doctoral specialty.

Finally, it seems like an overly complicated plan to build a stretcher using modern clothing and stone age items.
