45. Planet of Giants, Part III: Crisis

So far, this story and The Aztecs are the two I found myself enjoying the most. I didn’t remember much about this one and had no particular expectation. But it was well paced and the changes between the big and small worlds were handled well. It also gave off Treehouse of Horror VII “Genesis Tub” vibes, which is not a bad thing. One thing I don’t understand is how Barbara made it back to the TARDIS. She seemed to be in no state to hike back, let alone climb down a rusty water pipe.

44. Planet of Giants, Part II: Dangerous Journey

Still having goodfeels about this story. In addition to being well-paced, it’s directed well. In particular, the cuts between the big world and the small world are well done given the limited resources. Perhaps since it’s the first episode of the season, they hadn’t blown through the budget yet. Well done, Mervyn Pinfield . Two minor quibbles. First, I find it hard to believe the First Doctor would have the stamina to climb up the inside of a corroded water pipe. Second – and I’m not sure if this is a plus or a minus – Smithers has distractingly impressive eyebrows:
